Product Summary
Endura Products is announcing the transition of the Z-FEN sills to a "Roll and Barb" design. This transition brings a commonality for the Z-FEN platform to the Z-FN design. With the new design, a few changes have occurred:
Key Changes
Change to the Substrate: As pictured to the right, the new FEN substrate has been redesigned to match that on the FN sills which have been successfully utilized in the field for over 2 years. The revised design fully encloses the cap channel, eliminating the potential for water infiltration through the channel to the subfloor. The new substrate has a caulking area of approximately 1-7/8" wide which has been proven to be effective with the Z-FN design.
Changes to the Sill Covers due to increased nose thickness: The old FEN sill had a thinner nosing, which necessitated a unique sill cover for this product. The new FEN sill has a full size nosing profile, and allows customers to use the standard sill cover used for Z FN, Z+ and Z lineal designs.
Benefits
-
Cutability now the same as Z-FN; every 2/8 sill shipped will be capable of sizing down to a 2/6
-
New Z FEN design uses the roll-in-barb technology that was developed for the FN sill. Roll-in-barb design has shown improvement as it prevents the aluminum from sliding on the substrate, as well as providing a water tight channel under the cap
-
Sill Cover compatibility and interchangeability throughout all Z-Series sills
Action Items

Option 2: Customers can discard/destroy the old sill covers and Endura will send them an equivalent number of new sill covers free of charge.
